French Toaste Bake

This was that yummy french toast that we had in Medford when we were all home. We have made it a couple of times, and each time it has been a big hit.

16 slices firm bread ------1 Stick butter
4 oz cream cheese --------6 large eggs
Cinammon and sugar mix -------1 3/4 C milk
1 C brown sugar -------1 tsp vanilla
1/4 C maple syrup --------1/2 tsp cream of tarter
and sour cream and berries

Spread 8 slices of bread with Cinnamon and sugar mix, top with other 8 pieces of bread and cut diagonally. In 11x17 pan, combine brown sugar, butter maple syrup, place in a 350 degree oven and let bake until bubbling (I have cooked this mix on the stove top and in works well too). Place your sandwiches in the pan. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla and cream of tarter and pour over the bread. Let sit for at least 45 minutes then bake in the 350 oven for 30-40 min, the top gets golden brown.

Kara recommended putting sliced apples on the bottom in the Carmel mix and then the bread, haven't tried it but sounds good. Hope you enjoy and remember the good times we had together this summer
